Wolverhampton have slowly begun to turn things around and have climbed out of the relegation zone, albeit only by goal difference. They need to continue improving their position. Bournemouth, on the other hand, could also use some points after suffering a home defeat.
For Wolverhampton it all started back in late October when they salvaged a point at the last moment against Brighton (2:2). This was followed by another high-scoring draw (2:2) against Crystal Palace, and then their first victory over a direct relegation rival, Southampton (2:0). Few expected them to succeed at Fulham, but they managed a convincing win (4:1), even if the last two goals came in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Bournemouth likely did not plan on losing to Brighton, a side that was above them but still within reach. Even the sending-off of an opposition player in the 59th minute didn't help them avoid the 1:2 defeat, a result tinged with a bit of bad luck as they struck the woodwork at the very last moment. Now they must travel to an away game, having failed to win in their last four away fixtures, with only one victory in their last six matches overall.
Wolverhampton should secure at least one point from this encounter: their forward Matheus Cunha is in scintillating form. Against Bournemouth, the Brazilian netted twice and provided an assist, and over the last three matches, he has accumulated six points through goal and assist.
